Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
In the highest heavens God reigns supreme and undisputed. On earth, however, His reign is contested.
From the beginning, the Father knew a tempter and deceiver would arise to lead Adam’s race astray, and He did not prevent this. He had a plan for restoration – he wanted a people who would be fully His, given to Him in love, in full awareness of the alternative. This is what Jesus died for.
Sickness, demonic bondage, all forms of injustice and oppression, and even death itself will be banished on that day when Jesus returns bodily to earth to overthrow every form of darkness.
While we wait eagerly for that day, we who believe have the deposit of His Spirit in our hearts. Every time the Spirit’s power is displayed in love, we get an advance taste [a deposit] of the glory of the day when the Kingdom comes fully on earth – broken hearts healed, captives set free, blind eyes opened, justice for the oppressed (Isaiah 61:1-4, Luke 4:18-19, Hebrews 6:5).
Your Kingdom come, O Lord! Father, may Your will be done here, where we live.
